​MPI are assisting our client with their current requirement for Avionic Repair Technicians to be based at their Sealand site.

Starting January 2022 - up to 31st March 2022 with possible extension.

37 hours per week. (Monday - Friday)

Job Description:

An adaptable individual who can utilise authorised documentation to undertake a wide range of activities including:-

Repairs/Testing and fault diagnosis of both Avionic and Non Avionic Electrical/Electronic equipment.

Manufacture of Cable/Wiring Looms.

Calibration of Electrical/Mechanical Test Equipment.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Must be able to follow electrical and/or mechanical test procedures using a variety of special to type and general purpose test equipment and tooling.

Demonstrate suitable hand skills, both mechanical (screwdrivers, spanners, pliers etc.) and electrical (soldering irons, solder rework centres, crimping etc.).

Manage their own time and priorities their work load to meet team plans and customer delivery requirements.

Communication Demands of the Role:

Work within a team based environment and be capable of actively contributing to team based problem solving situations.

Communicate with other departments on a regular basis to support the team activity.

Physical Demands:-

Lifting – several components are themselves physically heavy, others require lead weights to be moved as part of the test procedure.

Tasks can be repetitive and requiring a high level of concentration and care to avoid damage of irreplaceable and valuable components.

Some tasks/areas have particular hazards such as high levels of noise, fuel handling or extra cleanliness (cleanroom). These all have special PPE requirements, and also require a thorough understanding of the procedures for dealing with and working in these environments. Risk assessments are carried out by authorised assessors.

It is necessary to be able to clearly identify colour coded components and wiring. Applicants cannot have Colour Vision Deficiency.

Work Environment:-

The work is carried out in a clean, well-lit and air conditioned area.

Required Education and Experience:-

Have completed a recognised relevant Electrical and Electronic Engineering apprenticeship or similar accredited training. Appropriate industry experience (in a similar military electronic repair role) may be deemed sufficient.

At least hold a BTEC ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Working knowledge of IT systems (Word, Excel etc.).

It is necessary to be able to clearly identify components and wiring which are purposely marked with colours to identify their characteristics. Because of this, individuals in the role cannot have Colour Vision Deficiency.
