​MPI have a requirement for a Hardware Design Engineer to work in a permanent role in Waterlooville, Hampshire.

Key purpose

Our Clients Design, Integration and Test team at their Waterlooville site require an additional Hardware Engineer to work on existing and new military contracts which will involve the definition, integration, commissioning, acceptance and Post Design Support (PDS) of electronics hardware and test equipment. The work may include requirements engineering, architectural design, detailed design (electronics & mechanical, PCB layout & circuit design), verification testing (be familiar with test and measurement principles) and obsolescence management.

Structure and reporting relationship

The Hardware Engineer will report to the Principal Engineer.

Technical leadership will be provided by Technical Leads.

Project leadership will be provided by Programme Managers.

Based on the specific requirement of the role

Key accountabilities

Analyse requirement specifications. Develop architectural & detailed hardware designs utilising COTS / bespoke components. Contribute to design reviews. Develop verification and acceptance test strategies. Undertake test, commissioning, integration acceptance & PDS activities including obsolescence management. Produce plans, specifications & support documentation. Deliver in a manner that meets the contractual requirements and the relevant internal processes.

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge

HNC/HND Electronic/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

Applicants will be required to undergo security clearance vetting, if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.

Additional / special features of the role

The ability to generate comprehensive design lifecycle documentation. Previous experience in a mix of the following areas: digital, analogue, FPGA, RF, EMC, and interface, cable, mechanical and PCB design. An appreciation of system safety engineering.
