Position: Quantity Surveyor

Location: RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, UK

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 07:30-16:30

Out of Scope IR35:-

MPI Limited are currently recruiting to join our team of engineering and construction management specialists at RAF Lakenheath, to work on this exciting contract supporting the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron/Engineering Flight!

RAF Lakenheath is the largest US Air Force-operated base in England and the only US Air Force in Europe (USAFE) to have the F-15 fighter wing.

 

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or Quantity Surveying.

Certifications: MRICS certification through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Desired).

Experience: 5 years’ experience working with SPONS and Parametric Cost Estimating.

NEC3 contract experience is desirable.

 

Job Description:

1.       Review architectural plans and prepare quantity needs

2.       Estimate the quantity and costs of materials

3.       Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation

4.       Set budgets for payments, inventory needs, and materials

5.       Prepare and track variations and claims

6.       Analyze costs for maintenance and additional building needs

7.       Track changes in plans or constructions and update budgets

8.       Negotiate with contractors and subcontractors

9.       Hire and document contractors and subcontractors

10.   Act as a liaison between clients and site managers/engineers

11.   Keep track of construction materials and inventory

12.   Identify potential financial or construction risks

13.   Advise clients on improvements, strategies, and/or estimated costs

14.   Prepare payments for contractors and subcontractors

15.   Document progress, materials, and reports on project

16.   Advise on property taxes, regulations, and local laws

17.   Source maintenance costs and facilities management for clients

18.   Develop and maintain working relationships with contractors and subcontractors

19.   Utilize software to calculate, record, and track inventory and estimates

20.   Analyze completed projects to determine ROI and compare costs

Must be confident and comfortable in challenging contractors, be able to carry out thorough reviews of contractor prices and look to find savings.

This is a self-employed position.

Monday to Friday.
