​MPI are assisting our Client with their current permanent requirements for a Sheet Metal Technician to be based at East Midlands Airport

Position Type: Permanent

Location: EMA Hangar 29

Responsible to: Base Maintenance Manager

Role Summary:

An experienced sheet metal repair technician located within the UK PT145 EMA base hangar team. The successful candidate will carry out repairs and other mechanical work as directed by the supervisor and Base maintenance manager to the 737, ATP and ATR fleet of a/c.

Responsibilities

Perform all tasks according to the valid instructions and documentation.

Be well informed about the procedures regarding production quality control and quality audit, especially how they apply at the specific maintenance tasks.

Reporting to the on-duty supervisor and taking direction from certifying staff regarding repair requirements

Accurately record all work carried out using the IT information systems in use

Assist as required, under the direction of certifying staff, with any other mechanical tasks related to a/c hangar inputs

Completing repairs IAW drawings or other data supplied to a high standard.

Assisting the supervisors and management team to maintain a safe working environment

Completing major structural repairs on pressurised metal aircraft, on both primary and secondary structure

Interpreting repair drawings and identify areas that require engineering changes when compared to actual aircraft structure

Analyse and interpret the OEM structural repair manuals to identify a/c zones and stations. Identify repairs and locate material and alternate fasteners within these manuals

Utilise precision measuring instruments to accurately gauge damage limits

Ability to form from plate material complex bends and shapes using common sheet metal handling tools including bending brakes, rollers, shrinkers

Academic/Educational Requirements

Apprenticeship or equivalent training with a major OEM or MRO

National basic education qualifications in English and Math’s at Grade C or equivalent

Training in the use of shrinkers or English wheels would be an advantage

Required Skills/Experience:

Proven ability to complete Major structural repairs on pressurized metal aircraft on both primary and secondary structure

Ability to interpret repair drawings and identify areas that require engineering changes when compared to actual aircraft structure

Ability to use and interpret the OEM structural repair manuals to identify a/c zones and stations. Identify repairs for damage found and locate material and alternate fasteners within these manuals.

Must be able to use precision measuring instruments to accurately gauge damage limits.

Proven hand skills with common sheet metal tools.

Ability to form from plate material complex bends and shapes using common sheet metal handling tools including bending brakes, rollers, shrinkers.

Ability to travel for AOG repairs

Must hold a valid UK driving license

Basic £30,450

Shift Allowance £4500 plus Company Pension
