MPI have a requirement for a full time permanent Vehicle Mechanical Supervisor to work on site at Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.

At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, our client has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997.  Our client proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet, you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out here. You’ll also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.

 

Our client is currently recruiting for two levels of Technicians, this one being a Supervisory role which is dependent on skills and experience, to join the existing team at Brize Norton. The purpose of the role is to work directly alongside RAF colleagues that are responsible for maintenance and rectification of a variety of vehicles and equipment, that supports Brize Norton Airport and Airfield Operations. The list includes but is not limited to: HGV Vehicles, Runway sweepers, aircraft de-icing vehicles, cargo lifting and handling equipment aircraft domestic water and toilet trucks and Land Rovers.

What you'll need to do the role:

 

Previous experience in the Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Equipment Arena or equivalent. (Transferable skills from HGV, Vehicle, Plant Fitter, Aviation maintenance arena are all appropriate)

Ability to effectively and safely complete maintenance and rectification tasks

Functional IT skills to use Electronic Technical Manuals and to update Maintenance Recording systems

Be an excellent team player with a “can-do safely” approach to work

Must have high standards of oral and written communication skills

Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance

 

Desirable skills and experience:

 

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle / Technical Maintenance arena

 

Working Regime:

 

Mon- Thu 8-hour day shifts. Fri 5-hour shift with lunch time finish

Rotational standby week at home for out of hours commitment, this commitment attracts additional pay

Overtime as required
