Founding Story

MPI was founded in 1962, known at the time as Welltrade by Sean Hurley and Steve Bond with a simple but ambitious vision, to provide industry with a highly skilled, flexible workforce that could respond quickly to changing operational demands. Over six decades later, that same commitment to service, reliability and people remains at the heart of everything we do.

From our beginnings supporting the electronics and manufacturing sectors, MPI has continually evolved alongside industry, adapting to new technologies, market demands and workforce challenges while maintaining the values that shaped the business from day one.

Today, descendants of the original founders remain shareholders in the business, helping preserve the long-term vision and family-led culture that continues to define MPI.

Looking Forward

While proud of our heritage, MPI continues to evolve with the industries we support. We embrace modern recruitment technology, compliance systems and smarter ways of working. But we never lose sight of what sits at the centre of everything we do: people.

Our approach blends innovation with human understanding, ensuring that every solution is shaped by experience, relationships and real-world insight. From major rail programmes and aviation projects to addressing critical engineering skills shortages, we remain focused on connecting the right people to the right opportunities in the right way.

As we look ahead, our principles stay the same as they have since 1962: honesty, respect, accountability, inclusivity and trust,  delivered through a business that is as human as it is forward-thinking.
