MPI is recruiting an Aircraft Engineering Mechanical Supervisor with Merlin experience to join a leading aviation support operation.
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a supervisory role supporting the Royal Navy’s front-line Merlin helicopter fleet, working across the IMOS (Integrated Merlin Operational Support) and AESAS (Aircraft Engineering and Aviation Support) contracts at one of the UK’s busiest military air stations.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring aircraft are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with strict military aviation standards.
What you’ll be doing
- Supervise aircraft engineering and maintenance activities on Merlin aircraft
- Ensure all work meets safety, airworthiness, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee servicing, support equipment, and off-aircraft maintenance tasks
- Identify and escalate technical, safety, and quality issues
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and compliance records
- Support lean operating practices and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an airworthiness environment
- Strong hands-on Merlin aircraft engineering experience
- Ability to hold (or already hold) Supervisory Certificate of Competency
- Knowledge of Naval Air Publications and CIETP systems
- Understanding of COSHH, HASAW, tool control, and quality practices
- Familiarity with engineering and asset management systems
- Completed or willing to complete Human Factors training
