Deputy Chief Engineer

MPI have a requirement for a Deputy Chief Engineer to work in a permanent position at RAF Valley.

  • Early and late shift pattern - Monday to Friday
  • Candidates must hold a CAA B1.1 Aircraft Maintenance License. 
  • Rate of pay is £79,227.96 per annum

 

Summary

Provides effective leadership and management of maintenance colleagues and maintenance supervision, supporting the Chief Engineer to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements and procedures. Works collaboratively with Operations, CAMO, Planning, Procurement and technical departments to achieve required quality and cost targets, alongside the delivery of maintenance with a strong customer focus.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working closely with multi-site teams, building relationships, and leveraging them to deliver outstanding performance in a highly regulated environment. 
  • Excellent knowledge of managing large fleets of aircraft, either within a Civilian or Military environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of Part 145, MRP 145 environments and Part M regulations.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Quality Assurance.
  • Understanding of Part 66 license qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programmes.
  • A clear understanding of ERP systems, preferably a Rusada product.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate at all levels within and external to the organisation.
  • Understanding of the differing requirements of CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and MAA regulations and requirements.
  • CAA Part 66 licence holder.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a CAP562 Leaflet B40 organisation.
  • Experience in a Military environment is desirable to understand our end-user’s requirements and philosophy
  •  

 

Essential Qualifications:

·           CAA Part 66 B1/B2 Licence.

·           UK Driving Licence.

 

Desirable Qualification:

·           Recognised Level 4 in Leadership/Management.

·           Category C Licence

 

Roles & Responsibilities

·           Deputise for the Chief Engineer.

·           Responsible for the engineering standards and practices across the Companies aircraft maintenance, component maintenance and operational areas in accordance with the MOE (Maintenance Organisation Exposition) and to a standard acceptable to the organisation and CAA & MAA.

·           Safely deliver all maintenance for which the Organisation is approved.

·           Responsible for the generation of the maximum number of aircraft possible to deliver the contract.

·           Lead the interaction between the Aircraft Maintenance, Planning, Procurement and CAMO teams to ensure the platform asset management plan and inventory is aligned with the maintenance and delivery plan.

·           Lead and manage the P145 maintenance teams, coaching and mentoring trainees.

·           Monitor and report engineering status of the fleet daily, paying attention to ongoing trends, difficult technical issues, and other engineering issues.

·           Ensuring the correct certification of all maintenance undertaken by the Organisation or any sub-contracted party and that records of maintenance carried out are retained.

·           Ensure parity of engineering judgement and decision making across the individual sites, in accordance with the MOE and aircraft’s document sets.

·           Assessing and reviewing the competence of personnel employed in maintenance by the Organisation.

·           Ensuring the safe generation of airworthy aircraft and equipment to consistently meet the customer task as specified by the Operations Manager.

·           Ensuring that adequate/safe facilities and resources are available on all sites to deliver all maintenance tasks and to manage the maintenance man-hour plan.

·           Ensuring that Workplace Instructions are established and published within the organisation, to achieve good maintenance practices and comply with the Organisation’s approval.

·           Ensuring health, safety and environmental policies are always implemented and complied with within the Company Part 145 operational delivery areas.

·           Maintaining exceptional working relationships with all key stakeholders.

·           Ensure appropriately trained personnel are available to meet the maintenance plan.

·           All tooling/GSE/equipment is maintained to the required standard.

·           Assist in the AOG (Aircraft on Ground) recovery of aircraft.
