Aircraft Structures Technician

Due to an exciting contract expansion, our client is growing their Structures team at RAF Brize Norton. If you have hands-on experience in sheet metal rectification and structural repairs, this is an opportunity to work on one of the world's most capable military transport aircraft while developing your career in a world-class engineering environment.

Working Pattern

  • Two weeks: Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00
  • One week: Monday-Thursday, 16:00-02:00

The Role

Working within the Aircraft Structures Bay, you'll carry out structural and composite repairs on RAF C-17 aircraft, both in the workshop and directly on the aircraft in the hangar and on the flight line.

Your duties will include:

  • Aircraft structural damage assessment and rectification
  • Sheet metal repairs, frame and skin replacements
  • Structural component replacement and corrosion removal
  • Fabrication of repair parts
  • Drilling, riveting, countersinking and close-tolerance fitting
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals
  • Recording maintenance using computer-based systems
  • Ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards
  • Working closely with engineers and technicians across the wider maintenance team

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Proven experience in sheet metal rectification
  • A recognised Engineering or Aviation Engineering qualification (BTEC, ONC, NVQ or equivalent), or military aircraft engineering training
  • Strong practical engineering skills and attention to detail

Previous aircraft experience is desirable but not essential, full training in aircraft-specific repair techniques will be provided.
