Job description
MPI are looking for Aircraft Composite Fitters to work on site at Western Approach, Bristol.
Contract is for approx. 6 months – and is ongoing/rolling contract
Rate of pay - Paye:
£23.59 per hour on shift
Weekday overtime - £27.65
Weekend overtime - £36.86
** Likely be up to a couple of weeks on Core Day Shift Training paid at £18.43/per hour **
Shift Pattern:
Currently working 12/7 shift on days, 11.5 hour days average 40.25 hrs per week (known as 7 Day Fort Days) all days start from 6.00am to 6.00pm
Week 1 – Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat and Sun.
Week 2 Wed, Thursday.
Duties:
As a Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitter, you will be involved in working on a range of aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies from detail parts, whilst embracing appropriate assembly techniques, tools and fixtures, in accordance with the appropriate technical data and competencies .Assemble composite and metallic aircraft components in line with design and engineering requirements.
Key Deliverables:
• Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components
• Drilling/Reaming/Countersinking of composite and metallic components
• Set aircraft components in calibrated build jigs.
• Deburring and under head radius of aircraft components and assemblies
• Fettling using approved and calibrated setting tools
• Use of nut runners and pre-set torque guns for bolting
• Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities
• Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements
Qualifications:
• Apprenticeship or recognized equivalent qualification, desirable but not essential.
• 5 years Minimum 3 years’ relevant trade experience assembling aircraft components using drawings and processes.
Key Skills:
• Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances
• Good hand skills and co-ordination
• Understand aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
• Ability to operate CNC machines and processes as required
• Self-motivated team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both alone and in small teams
• Ability and willingness to undertake training and understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes
• To take responsibility to “self-certify” own work
• Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages
