Sustainability

Sustainability Overview

For sustainability initiatives to achieve the impacts they aspire to, they need to be faithfully adhered to throughout the supply chain. At MPI, we're committed to doing our part to make our aspirations a reality by holding ourselves and others accountable.

Our responsibilities to the environment, the economy and our employees are the bedrock of who we are now, and who we aspire to be in the future.

Since 2018, these responsibilities have been influencing many strategic and tactical decisions we've taken, leading us towards full ISO14001:2015 certification in 2020.

Having achieved this important milestone, we've also attained gold level membership to the Supply Chain Sustainability School. This has been invaluable for us to assess, benchmark and improve our processes.

But certification is just the start. As we move forward, we'll be looking to improve upon and exceed our own targets in a constant effort to improve.

In all this, we're particularly proud of our amazing team, who've embraced the ambitious goals that we've set ourselves. As they already do in their day-to-day work, they're delivering above and beyond across all facets of our sustainability plan.

On this page you'll find information on our activities, achievements and goals for the future. We welcome any and all suggestions and comments on our journey towards net zero. If you've something to ask or share, please contact us at: sustainability@mpi.ltd.uk.

Our Policies

Environmental Policy

From energy consumption, carbon emissions management, water use, waste minimisation, pollution prevention and emergency planning; we aim to minimise our impact on the environment.

Sustainability Policy

Sustainability is at the heart of our business and we are a company with a fundamental belief in the value of developing longstanding relationships with our employees, our customers, our suppliers and our local community to help create a sustainable society.

EDI Policy

We recognise that an inclusive workforce brings diversity of thought, innovation, and a positive culture. Being a recruitment agency, EDI is considered throughout the business and we have an EDI Champion in place to continue to make improvements wherever possible.

ISO14001

We constantly measure and improve our environmental impact through our ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System, by planning and implementing environmental improvement and protection measures.

MPI Community Involvement

We recognise the obligations we have in providing the best service we can, in a way that embodies responsible behaviour. We also understand the valuable role we can play in supporting the wider community.

Many of our staff members give their spare time to charities, environmental groups, sponsoring and coaching junior sports clubs as well as getting involved in our environmental community events.

Annual Carbon Offsetting

Each year we offset our residual carbon through a verified tree buddying programme, that plants native broadleaf trees in the UK and offset for each tonne through projects such as the Pacajai REDD+ in the Amazon rainforest, which is creating a protected area to prevent unplanned deforestation, conserve local ecosystems and allow areas of deforestation to regenerate.

Great Big Green Week

Each year we hold a week of environmental activities during the Great Big Green Week, based around litter-picking, green travel to work, local biodiversity activities and other sustainability and community outreach initiatives.

Staff Volunteer in the Community

MPI are very proud that our environmental values are so ingrained in our staff that many volunteer in their communities in various ways.

Sustainable Partnerships

MPI likes to work with companies with a strong sustainable and ethical ethos at their core. From Jamilla's ethical coffee to Wildhearts Stationary Company we are always looking for ways to make sure our supply chain has the same values we hold.

Our offices are going carbon neutral

We have a carbon reduction plan in place which conforms to PAS2060. A series of targets are in place to continue our progress to achieving net zero by 2030. Each year, we calculate our carbon footprint. If, despite all efforts to reduce them, there still remain some residual greenhouse gas emissions, we offset them to be carbon neutral.
