Job Title: Bid Coordinator/Business Development Executive 

Contract Dates: 06/06/2022 - 30/12/2022

Location: Chippenham


The role reports to the Regional Key Account Manager and works closely with all disciplines within the Strategy and Business Development team including Marketing, Bids and Tendering and the wider project delivery business. This role will support successful business generation from new and existing markets within the allocated region. 

This role will require the successful candidate to be mobile and to spend time away from the agreed ‘base’ office.

What are my responsibilities?

Business Development Plans

  • Support the development of key regional customer accounts for Siemens Mobility Limited, Rail Infrastructure (as required), with existing and future clients and partners, such as Network Rail and devolved Transport Bodies

  • Support the development of railway infrastructure opportunity win strategies to position the organisation to secure new business

  • Support the development of effective business development plans for all allocated regions, ensuring strategic messages are delivered to internal and external clients and partners

  • Support ‘day to day’ internal requirements to meet business processes, reporting for across the UK and global businesses

Customer Engagement

  • Attend strategic events, record and distribute key information and be an ambassador for Siemens

  • Support to grow overall customer satisfaction as well as revenues from key accounts

  • Foster authentic and personal relationships with colleagues across the rail infrastructure business, and support meetings etc with customers and partners as part of business development

  • Support the ‘voice of the customer’ to ensure their outcomes, benefits and aspirations are understood and support the communication effectively to inform new technology developments within Siemens Mobility Limited


  • Support regional, customer focused proposal generation through handover to bids, as required

  • Develop, drive and complete specific opportunity capture plans in accordance with company processes and standards

  • Support market & competitor analysis activities to identify business offerings and routes to market

  • Support & identify the benefits realisation and outcomes for opportunities, to support proposal management

Measures for success in role

  • Business Development Plan recorded, executed and shared

  • Individual and team sales targets identified and understood

  • Customer satisfaction ratings recorded and reported

  • Opportunities captured and reported based on scope, scale and likelihood

  • Quality of market intelligence

  • Good communications to share work across the business at all levels

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Sales or customer focused experience in a large-scale technology or project delivery business (essential)

  • Successful track record of customer and business value-based business development (essential) 

  • Creative thinker who is used to working under pressure and to tight/challenging deadlines (essential)
