​MPI require a Permanent Facilities and Health, Safety & Environmental Officer, for our client based in Bedford

This is a permanent role offering £30,000 - £40,000 per year dependent on experience. This is a Monday to Friday position offering a Company Pension and 23 Days holiday plus Bank Holidays , then 1 day more per 5 years’ service. Death is Service 2 ½ basic salary is also offered.

Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge, understanding and enforcement of:

Health and Safety demonstrated by compliance to all health and safety, and emergency procedures

Requirements of Personal Protective Equipment protocols always demonstrated by correct use of protective equipment by all employees

Be fully conversant and compliant with Company policies, procedures and specifications in order to maintain a safe and controlled environment.

Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities for all company facilities, including buildings, equipment, and grounds.

Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective facility upkeep.

Maintain an organized record of facility maintenance schedules and budgets.

Project Management of on-site refurbishments, including management of Contractors.

Familiarity with CDM and RAMS requirements.

To deputise for other colleagues within Operations where necessary.

Ensure all procedures are fully documented.

Health & Safety Compliance.

Develop, implement, and regularly update health & safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with legislation.

Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.

Provide safety training and awareness programs to employees, emphasizing best practices and compliance.

Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation plans, first-aid protocols, and incident reporting.

Lead emergency drills and exercises to ensure the readiness of all employees in case of emergencies.

Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare comprehensive reports with recommendations for preventing recurrence.

Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.

Prepare and distribute regular reports on health & safety performance and initiatives to management.

Stay current with all applicable health & safety regulations and standards, ensuring the company's ongoing compliance.

Liaise with regulatory agencies and authorities as necessary.

Co-ordination and functionality of the site Health & Safety Committee.

Job Holder Requirements

 Proven experience in a Facilities and Health & Safety role.

 Working towards, or desire to obtain a NEBOSH qualification. This qualification will be a requirement for the role.

 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

 Knowledge of health & safety regulations.

 Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

 A high-level of self-confidence and self-motivation with the ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.

 Ability to improve quality & efficiency of work processes and drive implementation.

 Diligent, structured and organised approach to work – with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.

 Ability to work in an everchanging, fast-paced environment.

 A positive ‘can-do’ attitude with logical problem-solving skills.

 Takes pride in own work, is thorough with excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications
