MPI are currently recruiting for a Permanent Hangar Superintendent (Full EASA/CAA Licence or recognised equivalent B1 or B2 Licence)

Based at London Luton Airport

THE ROLE

 

The Hangar Superintendent plays a pivotal role in managing the performance and standards of the Engineering Team.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational and administrative management of the shift, ensuring all maintenance activities are conducted in full compliance with Regulatory Authority requirements and company procedures.

This is a hands-on role, and the successful candidate will actively participate in aircraft maintenance while leading and supporting the team.

You must have experience of working as a Licensed Engineer and in a supervisory capacity. Preference will be given to those applicants who already have experience of working within a Corporate / Private aviation environment, or those with experience working on any of the following types: Bombardier Challenger 300/350; 604/605 and / or Global type aircraft.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Oversee all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance through effective task delegation to the Engineering Team.

·         Liaise with the Technical Services Department and Engineering Manager to ensure seamless coordination and operational excellence.

·         Ensure all work carried out under your supervision complies with regulatory and company standards.

·         Maintain control and uphold performance standards of the Engineering Team in accordance with company procedures.

·         Manage resources to ensure maintenance inputs are appropriately staffed and supported.

·         Handle day-to-day staff administration, including scheduling, performance management, and team development.

·         Supervise work on aircraft and within support departments to ensure quality and safety.

·         Ensure Stores procedures are followed accurately and approve spares required to support maintenance activities.

·         Take an active role in hands-on aircraft maintenance.

·         Deputise for the Engineering Manager during absences and perform agreed functions of the role when applicable.

 

THE HOURS

 

The successful applicant must be flexible and professional. The Luton base operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year.  Opening and closing hours are based on the customer’s requirements.

The hours for this position are as required for the business. However, the general working days are Monday to Friday based on a 40-hour working week.

The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, as the needs of the business require. On occasions, alternative working hours will be required.

Travel to other locations may also be required.

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

 

The successful candidate will;

·         Hold a full EASA / CAA license or recognised equivalent B1 or B2 licence.

·         Preference will be given to applicants that hold 2 type ratings, listed on the HAL Form 3 (Bombardier Challenger 300/350; 604/605 and / or Global type aircraft).

·         Able to apply for and hold company approval on these types.

·         Experience running or assisting with maintenance checks.

·         If holding a ‘C’ rating, expected to exercise that privilege.

·         Have demonstrable experience of people management.

 

The Hangar Superintendent role is required to provide an exceptionally high level of service and is responsible for ensuring that business needs are met in a timely and appropriate manner.

They must be multi-skilled, and often have to undertake several tasks at once, whilst ensuring that they maintain a professional attitude at all times.

They are required to be quick thinking and very adaptable, as the nature of our business often dictates unique requirements.

The role can at times be challenging, requiring a high level of organisational skill and the ability to co-ordinate and communicate effectively with all other departments and customers.

The role is demanding, and the successful candidate should be calm, professional and flexible under pressure.

They will be able to demonstrate strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

They will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is able to prioritise and work on their own initiative, setting a professional example to their team, always demonstrating courtesy and integrity.

They will have strong numeracy, computer and administration skills (general working knowledge of systems such as Microsoft office) which are essential.

The role will include travel domestically and internationally, therefore an unrestricted passport and a full UK driving licence are essential requirements.

The successful individual will also need to have a 5-year checkable history to obtain an airport ID pass.
