​MPI Ltd has a long term vacancy available in Kempston/Bedford for a Labourer

  • Job Title: Workshop Assistant/ labourer

  • 40 hours per week Mon - Fri 7:00am – 15:30pm, with half hour lunch break

  • £14 per hour (PAYE)

Prime function:

  • General day to day tidying of Workshop and Yard and maintain tidiness of stores.

  • Disposing of metals off cuts into the bin.

  • Take control of goods in and deliveries, unload lorries and delivery wagons.

  • Breaking up old pallets and disposing of them into wood skip

Key Responsibilities/ Requirements:

  • Work alongside Fabricators and Fitters to manage cleanliness and tidiness of the fabrication facility and Yard at shop floor level.

  • Required to assist that the daily checks are carried out on Forklift.

  • Required to make sure all lifting equipment is collated and available for 6 monthly LOLER checks to be carried out.

  • Required to make sure all power tools are readily available for 6 monthly PAT Tests are carried out

  • Organize storage of materials in relation to specific project

  • Ensure that the Factory is a safe place to work, keep on top of trip hazards and any other potential risks.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Counterbalance Forklift Truck (preferred).

  • CSCS Card (preferred)

  • First Aid (preferred)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, capable of teamwork

  • Must be able to read and understand delivery notes and who jobs are allocated to.

  • Working knowledge of site/ yard environment.

  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements within an engineering environment

  • Strong skills in prioritizing and organizing.
