European Technical Centre – Compliance / Regulatory Engineer – Milton Keynes

Our clients European Technical Centre (ETC) is located next to the UK subsidiary and shares the purpose built 14-acre production and R&D facility and offices located in Milton Keynes. ETC has an important role supporting the Japanese Technical Centre in ensuring our clients products comply with the latest European regulations.

ETC is currently expanding, and as part of their global organisation, led by Japan, they are focused on delivering innovative and future-proof solutions to their customers in Europe.

The Role: 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our clients European Technical Centre as an Engineer supporting the research on product compliance for their products. A major part of the role will include monitoring EU Directives and regulations, as well as the EU Official Journal and UK Government websites. The role is suitable for a candidate with great attention to detail, interested in manufacturing and European law, and with strong reporting skills.

The position will involve working as part of the larger team by collaborating with Engineers in other groups within the Technical Centres, European subsidiaries, and Japan. The purpose of the role is to ensure that all legislative requirements are met, product documentation is kept complete, up to date, and is legally sound. There will also be technical queries to respond to from our customers.

A future part of the role may include training to become an internal auditor, carrying out internal audits under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience in report writing

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or any other associated degree in law or sustainability

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as you will be required to write detailed, technical reports and communicate clearly

  • The ability to occasionally travel to Europe

  • Curiosity and a desire to learn and study

  • Great knowledge of Microsoft Office

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Previous involvement with standards, regulations, directives etc.

  • Working in a manufacturing company

  • Cooperation with test houses or notified bodies

  • Internal auditor experience

  • European or Japanese language skills
