Job description
We are currently looking for a long term BIM Manager with knowledge of the rail industry in the UK.
This is a year long contract initially but may be extended.
Remote/ Hybrid may be considered with the office being based in Wiltshire.
Key Responsibilities
The BIM Manager is responsible for the following primary initiatives.
Authoring, implementation and management of the project/tender BIM Execution Plans, MIDPs, TIDPs, Common Data Environment, 3D design reviews, Clash Detection reports, COBie data exchanges, as required for the project/tender
Develop processes, procedures and plans to support Information Management on the project/tender
Implement an assurance regime to ensure compliance with project/tender BIM requirements and standards
Manage project/tender BIM resources for 3D modelling, CDE administrators and further specific technology support if required, as well as any additional BIM Manager support for larger or more complex BIM projects/tenders
Technical advice, presentations, and training for project/tender Client, Subcontractors and client project/tender teams
Ensuring all procedures and tools are deployed consistently across the project/tender by conducting regular BIM project and supply chain partner audits
Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to; the clients BIM Lead, BIM modelling support or separate project/tender specific 3D modelling resources, Client counterparts, key subcontractor BIM managers/directors, internal engineering mangers, IT applications teams, etc.
Adhere to and support the BIM Strategy for the business
Support reporting methods on business benefits and examples for the use of BIM on projects
Technical understanding of following software as a minimum; Bentley Projectwise, Bentley AECOsim/Microstation, Bentley Synchro and Esri ArcGIS
Participate in and initiate BIM technical discussions to develop solutions
What do I need to qualify for this role?
Essential Competencies
Relevant Professional Qualifications to Chartered or equivalent level
Breath of knowledge in current BIM standards, including but not limited to ISO19650, Government Soft landings, PAS 1192 standards (still in circulation while awaiting ISO updates), etc.
Experience of delivery of large multidisciplinary BIM projects
Experience of managing large multidisciplinary teams
Established professional status within engineering industry, will have significant experience of engineering implementation on large railway schemes in the UK, with experience of overseas engineering delivery and metro projects an advantage.
Commercially aware – able to forecast and manage resource utilisation and costs.
Safety culture aware – to be able to influence and develop an existing safety culture to latest generation thinking and practice.
Supportive of a consistent companywide approach to continuous improvement.
Strong leadership qualities including personal drive, persuasive communication skills, enthusiasm and support for company goals.
A broad base of engineering skills, experiences, knowledge and competencies covering the full engineering lifecycle, together with the requisite personal characteristics, to take responsibility for facilitating cross disciplinary engineering activity in complex, innovative and commercially challenging environments.
Strong and effective communicator at all levels within the Business – and in front of new and existing customers – both internal and external.
Must be willing to fill gaps in own knowledge and experience through taking a pro-active approach to learning, and seeking information from within and outside the company.
